Bogotá, host of the second EUROCLIMA seminar
Bogotá is located in the centre of Colombia on the eastern cordillera of the Colombian Andes on a plateau called Savannah of Bogotá. It is situated in the Cundiboyacense highlands, which cover approximately 33 kilometres from north to south and 16 kilometres from east to west.
It rests on a savannah in the north-western extension of the Andes cordillera with a large variety of climates, soils, bodies of water and other natural formations.
Bogotá sits between mountains that serve as a natural barrier that restricts the flow of moisture and hence influences the amount of rainfall received by the region.
Temperatures vary depending on the month. December, January and March are hot months, in contrast to the cooler temperatures of April and October.
Its average elevation is 2,600 metres above sea level.
